FAFSA Grand Slam! ABOR and Arizona Diamondbacks team up to offer free tickets for FAFSA completion
Class of 2025 high school seniors and graduates that complete the FAFSA from now until June 30 may receive free D-backs tickets to an upcoming game.
The TV and Arizona Diamondbacks are teaming up to make sure the high school class of 2025 hits it out of the park on financial aid while also scoring a family-fun night at the ballpark.
As part of the ongoing statewide effort to encourage Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion, the first 1,000 Class of 2025 Arizona high school seniors or graduates who submit the 2025-26 FAFSA form could receive two free tickets to a Diamondbacks regular season game. To qualify, students must complete their FAFSA between May 23 and June 30 and meet all promotion guidelines.
.
“Completing the FAFSA is essential. It’s not too late for Arizona students to unlock millions of dollars in federal, state, and institutional assistance that could make the difference between attending college or missing out on critical opportunities. Every student should submit their FAFSA to ensure they don’t leave money on the table,” said ABOR chair Cecilia Mata. “We are incredibly grateful to the Arizona Diamondbacks for stepping up to the plate and helping us encourage students to take this vital step toward their future. Their commitment to education in our state is making a real impact, and we urge students to act now and take advantage of this fantastic promotion."
The incentive with the D-backs builds on the success of ABOR’s “Hit a home run with FAFSA” campaign with the Cactus League, which since 2022 has encouraged Arizona high school seniors to complete the FAFSA by offering free spring training tickets. This year’s spring training campaign saw nearly 1,200 students take advantage of the opportunity, delivering over 4,500 tickets and unlocking an estimated $4 million in Pell Grant funds to Arizona students. Now, the Diamondbacks and ABOR are taking the program to the next level by offering a similar incentive during the regular season.
As of May 19, 35.5% of Arizona high schools seniors have completed the 2025-26 FAFSA, just over 5% away from Arizona’s statewide goal of 40%.
Arizona Diamondbacks President Derrick Hall reaffirmed the team’s commitment to education and workforce development, saying, “The Diamondbacks are proud to support Arizona’s students in their journey towards higher education. A strong, educated workforce is essential for the future of our state, and we always believe in giving back to the community in many ways, in this case raising awareness of FAFSA and helping students access the resources they need to succeed.”
As part of this expanded initiative, the Diamondbacks and ABOR will also be hosting a College Readiness Night at Chase Field on June 28. While attendees enjoy an evening of baseball, ABOR attainment staff will be on-site at the ballpark to provide students and families with resources and guidance on financial aid, admissions and education planning. Standard admission prices apply.
